...When you have stuff like this? (attachments)

In the first file, these guys were using 7CALL50 (769.24375), but one guy had it programmed as "7CALL59"*, and the other had it programmed as "MA CALL CHANNEL".

In the second file, they were using 7LAW61 (770.39375), but the first guy had it programmed as "7LAW68"*, and the other had it programmed as "MA PD".

They repeatedly reference an "EMS"* channel (which doesn't exist); I'd like to think they were looking for one of the 7MEDxx channels.

And oh yeah, while they were programmed with the correct NAC, they were speaking on TGID 2000. (1 is the correct TGID).

These channel names were the originals written by the NCC in decades gone by, and changed ca. 2010, with the APCO/ANSI adoption of same becoming official that year. I'm guessing they have some ham/volunteer fireman/CERT/pseudo expert on staff who just made up channel names.

Someone please remind me why I even volunteered my time to (help) write the standards again?

There is a county in Oregon that shall be nameless that went aganist the state SAR channel "color" naming convention and went with their own due to they having their own county channels plus the state one. Okay, I get that, however, they had a "channel conversion chart" they carry with them...

And now I'm back in Boise, ID, where 7CALL50 has been perverted to "Valley All-Call".

A little confusing, apparently. One guy was calling on 7CALL70, trying to reach the group on 7CALL50...
