Year and where was large fire at the u of w about 1956. Right above Montlake? Not talking about ROTC 1970 fire. Thnx |

The only large fire around that time that I can remember was the Seattle Cedar Manufacturing plant fire in Ballard ion May 20, 1958. |

I found this timeline on one of the UW websites: http://www.washington.edu/emergency/uw- ... 49-present There is a big jump from 1949 to 1961 so I'm guessing there is a lack of information for those years. A place as big as the UW (even in the 50s) has stuff going on all the time. The fires listed there are the ones from the late 60s/early 70s plus the fire at the Urban Horticulture building in 2001, |

4 buildings were destroyed in a fire that began shortly before midnight, April 1, 1961. I'm guessing it happened in the area where the Physical Plant offices and the Faculty Club are now. |
