1- The service I use is being discontinued at the end of the year. 2- I have Gmail, and despise it and the overwhelming presence Google seems to be trying to provide (docs, excuse me, Drive; Picasa, Blogger, Panoramio, Youtube, etc). 3- No Yahoo due to the shitty interface and ads. Thoughts? |

I have Outlook tied to gmail, so I don't have to deal with the web based stuff. |

You could get a free AOL address. Then, when you tell people your address, they instantly know how little computer skills you have. I use Thunderbird with a half dozen Google Apps (Gmail for your domain) addresses. |

The first time. Back when the script kiddies in the AOL chat rooms were all eagerly awaiting the release of AOL 1.5  I was IM bombing other kids while you were frantically casting about for your binky. Atomic Taco wrote: Wilrobnson wrote: I have Gmail, and despise it and the overwhelming presence Google seems to be trying to provide Then don't use those services?Doesn't matter whether I do or do not use them, they're still "provided" for me and linked to all of my other stuff. And searchable. I don't like the fact that a document I glanced at 3 years ago is forever stuck on my documents unless I actually go delete it. I don't like the fact I have a Picasa album and I don't even use it, never have and never will. But it still has my name plastered on it. |

I can't delete the Picasa album, though it has no and never had any pics, can't delete the Blogger profile I set up years ago for a practical joke, deleted the documents but Google will still save any I look at, forever. The only message I ever get is Google saying I can't delete this or that without closing/deleting my entire account, including email. |

Get a Google apps account and have the administrator disable all modules except Gmail. |
