So, I was considering the purchase of one of these. Question, would the aluminum skin be enough of a ground plane if I wanted to have someone sink an NMO mount or two into it? |

When we have done trailers with thin skin we have added thickness from beneath and even added wood blocking... If its even a question Im betting it will rip right out. Roofing supply outlets usually have rolled aluminum that can be used for such mods... |

Nothing less than a Dodge 1-ton with four wheels on the back axle with a Come-a-part Cummins will do. :chaingun: ![]() |

Why not just do the pizza pie pan and mag-mount thing? Throw it up in camp. Holes in the roof won't help with re-sale. |

Don't care about the re-sale value; not planning on selling it. Besides, a plug and some silicon for insurance filling a 1" hole wouldn't be a problem. |

If it was me, I would get a right angle bracket with a NMO hole and screw it onto the side of the camper or a C braket and screw it on top. If it was just aluminum skin, you could do it but not with wood backing on the skin (Too thick). With the comm coaches and trailers that I help on, we have a piece of metal that looks like a gutter that is upside down that is screwed onto the roof with drill holes for NMO mounts. |
