I remember during the Rodney King Riots, there was someone who was decoding the MDT messages of LAPD and finding all sorts of racist crap in there. LAPD apparently was running their MDT backchannel in the clear until that point. The decoder got in trouble sort of....he got like community service because his captures were used as evidence I think. |

I remember some years ago when a stuck mic let the entire Vancouver BC police dept and all folks scanning their channels listen to one officer telling another in his car about the wild weekend he had with a lady in great detail. :shock: |

They read through roughly 6 million MDT messages from the King incident time period and back 6 months. They found a whopping total of 44 messages that indicated some sort of racial overtones, and, when those 44 were examined, only 12 were found to contain truly racist material...but 10 of those were from the same officer. |
