Snow wimps: Seattle is shut down by first real snow of the season Remind me--what happens to LA in the rain or during scheduled road maintenance? |

The areas that get the "real snow" dont have the topography that this area deals with. Let alone the fact they have more snow removal equipment on call than anyone in Western Washington... Oh well- Just a little hazing... |

Atomic Taco wrote: Remind me--what happens to LA in the rain or during scheduled road maintenance ? Rain in LA is comical. People drive so slow on it you'd think it was ice. Couple that with half the cars here running on bald tires, freeways with no drainage, and most people's wipers rip apart due to infrequent use. Doesn't affect me as I'm probably the only person here with rain tires on their car. chpalmer wrote: The areas that get the "real snow" dont have the topography that this area deals with. Quote: Untrue on both counts where I lived in Central Oregon, and likewise everyone owned a 4x4... Im referring to those doing the hazing... I used to drive around the Big Bear area and locals could always pick out the out the flatlanders snow or not... I just came off a conversation with a buddy in Chicago and he was making fun of the area for the little bit of snow we got... Still reeling a little... |

Almost forgot about these: http://rud.com/en-us/produkte/schneeketten.html I highly recommend them over the junk you will find in the local stores. I use them when the snow gets over 3 feet deep or for pulling trailers up steep inclines. |

:nobs: Pullman Washington does not even mess around with sand... Their side streets are at least as steep as anything in Seattle... They get plowed somewhat, and then crushed rock is used as a traction aid... and it is extremely effective. Eric KB7DQH |

The parking lots at the liquor stores do not get plowed--no need as there's always traffic coming and going. |
