I did that to verify. I see it this way: 24 x 12 = 288 |

In cases where a power is applied to the contents enclosed in a parenthesis, the contents of the parenthesis is evaluated prior to the power. I suppose its still PPMDAS either way. Of course all this logic breaks if you are multiplying anything by multi term polynomials enclosed in parenthesis as you have to first apply the multiplication to resolve the polynomial within the parenthesis. If that makes any sense. I wasn't a math major. nickcarr wrote: Atomic Taco wrote: Please Excuse My Dead Aunt Sue Actually, it's PPMDAS ... I learned you keep going inside the parentheses until there are no more. Then you start at Excuse. |

How I learned Order of Operations last year at Perry Tech: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction 9+3 = 12 x 2 = 24 divided by 48 = 2 I'm sure more raunchy and entertaining acronyms could be developed. |

If I plug it in to my TI-84 Plus Gold Plated Expansion Pack Edition I get 288. |
