Seattle Fire Department photo

Instead of spending money on ham gear I don't need, I went to Seattle Fire's open house at the new Station 38 yesterday. Tons and tons and tons of people there.

It's a really nice station. Bunks and a couple offices downstairs; upstairs has the kitchen, exercise room and TV room.

Rain, claustrophobia and lots of people not paying attention to their surroundings kept my camera in the bag for the most part, but I did manage to get off a few crappy shots. Engine 38 and some unknown medic unit were on display. Engine 38 lives here, as does apparently a reserve engine (a reserve was at the old Station 38).

Impossible for a reserve Engine at the old station 38 as it only had one bay that their current engine barely fit in.

It is wrong, here is the link to the landmarks nomination report, there are several pictures on the last pages.

The Wiki is correct now. I just checked Seattle FD website and it says one engine and one reserve engine.

I grew up following that engine all over NE Seattle. I lived on a dead-man curve. If it didn't stop across the street my mom and I hit the car - leaving my brothers and father shaking their heads. Got me going on the hobby. My first radio was a converted taxi radio on 33.9.
