Come join us in a New-Old tradition January 18, 2011
The Olympia Fire Department will be bringing an old Fire Service Tradition to OFD. In the old days when a new apparatus was first put into service the department would invite friends, family and neighbors to eat, celebrate and PUSH, yes push, the new Engine or Truck into the Firehouse (Fire Horses did not like to go backwards). There will also be a ceremonial rinsing of the wheels (the wooden spokes of days gone by were kept wet so they wouldn’t shrink).
Come share in the pride of ownership as we push our new Tiller Truck into service at 10 a.m. on January 18th at Station 1, Puget Street between 4th and State in Olympia.
