This morning I was sitting in the hallowed lobby of the duly established J.M. Perry Technical Institute enjoying my breakfast with a few classmates and I notice the below pictured vehicle pull up along the front of the building. The gentleman pictured at the extreme right of the picture exits the vehicle, lacking any sort of security guard attire and approaches our security guard. The insignia on the door of the car matches the one on the shoulder of our security guard; must be of the same lack-lustre organization. Upon further inspection of the vehicle (looking for any sort of 2-way communication device and only was able to locate a very cheap FRS radio) I noticed that the large lightbar on the roof is just that; its just there. It's not even wired in. It's just -- there. If it wasn't enough, there was also a FS Firebeam dashligh with full flash-back mirror affixed with velcro to the dash; I'm assuming to fully complement the just-for-looks lightbar primary warning device on the roof during high speed chases in parking lots. There's also "Call 911" on the rear quarter panel if you needed the phone number to the company. Attachment: CIMG0269re.jpg [ 173.16 KiB | Viewed 2769 times ] |

I work security. While I don't work for a paticulary spectactular company right now, I have seen some pretty hillarious patrol cars from other companies. A few outfits just want the lights for show and don't trust their patrol officers to use them correctly. |

So a Securitas security guard pulls a BB gun and gets fatally shot in Spokane. Shooter renders CPR. No arrest. http://www.krem.com/news/crime/Shooting-at-Pacific-Plaza-Apartments-in-Spokane--101450959.html SPOKANE -- A security guard was shot to death outside an apartment complex in East Spokane Tuesday night. Spokane Police say it happened around 11:00 p.m. near Pacific and Myrtle, between the Pacific Plaza Apartment Complex and the Pepsi Building. Police say Securitas security guard, George Hayek, 26, was shot and killed after an argument with a group of people outside the apartments. Detectives believe Hayek was conducting his rounds, and engaged in words with people standing outside the apartments. Police say the argument led to threats, and Hayek pulled out a BB gun. A witness told KREM 2 News a man responded by pulling out his own gun, and shooting Hayek at point-blank range in the chest and abdomen. Police say several rounds were fired. The witness said a fence was separating the guard from the group of people, and the shooter jumped over the fence and attempted to perform CPR on Hayek. Police say they arrived on scene to find the shooter administering CPR, but Hayek died on scene. Police report all involved parties have been interviewed but no arrests have been made. The witness told KREM 2 news the shooter possibly has a background in nursing. |

While Securitas is the leader in hiring the dumbest, this once again brings an all-time low. And a freaking BB Gun? Not my choice in semi-aganist company policy weapons! |

Sounds really sad if the comments are true. A hard working guy makes a really bad decision in a really bad situation and pays for it with his life (not to mention the suffering of his family). And another citizen, protecting himself on a dark night, sees a gun drawn and pointed at him, responds in the way a reasonable person would most likely in the circumstances, and will probably suffer for years from his decision. |

I bet if the security guard had one of Weiner's "pistols" the situation would have ended much differently. |
