Spotted today in Los Angeles... Attachment: IMAG0031.jpg [ 162.66 KiB | Viewed 1581 times ] Attachment: IMAG0030.jpg [ 121.22 KiB | Viewed 1578 times ] Seems to have sufficient criteria to call it a whackermobile (revolving yellow light, VHF antenna, K9 sticker). Not easily visible in the photo is the sticker of a 6-pointed star top center of the rear window. Perhaps its an unmarked Mossad unit :bowrofl: |

Down here in Portland, there is a wacktacular vehicle owned by a ham with the call K7ETC. Its a Caprice Classic with multiple antennas with a SKYWARN sticker on the back along in those sticker letters K-9 UNIT on the bumper. The driver is always wearing a orange vest OR has it sitting on the drivers seat. |

I only sell to those with proper credentials. Back east, I had a security guard get upset because I refused to sell him red/blue lights... 'State (as in, State Police) said I could have them on private property'... I offered amber, and his response was something to the effect of 'well, anyone can run amber'.... I told him 'yup, and only police can run red/blue'.... Kept trying to give me the 'but I can have red/blue on private property!' crap..... Some people just don't get it.. |

Some states I know do allow red to be used on private property. California is one of them as I recall. Blue however is a different story. |

In MD, even having the equipment mounted and/or ready to use is against the law 'on public roads', the catch is, under MD law, even private property open for public use (Ie. 'public access') is considered a public road, so even on private property (in this case, for the security guard) it would not only be illegal to run the lighting, but illegal to even have mounted/readily accessible. Even setting aside the vehicle law, what purpose does one have for using red/blue lights if they're not LE? The entire purpose of running red/blue was to appear to have some power he does not. I don't care if he's using them in his garage, without credentials, I don't sell 'restricted' colors... |
