Duties:
Under the direction of the EPSCA Operations Manager, this is responsible for the maintenance and proper performance of EPSCa's portion of the Regional 800 MHz radio system and providing support for remote dispatch customers. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides daily monitoring of dispatch customer consoles, all preventative maintenance, and software upgrades on as needed basis.
Identifies performance/maintenance issues and notifies Motorola's subcontractor.
Provides technical assistance to maintenance providers as may be necessary to help restore system functionality.
Works with customer agencies to identify and resolve technical issues affecting the customer's use of the 800 MHz. radio systems.
Helps for the development of all radio programming templates; works with customer agencies to identify appropriate talk groups; drafts programming templates for review with customer agencies; programs the radio templates, either programs radios for customer agencies, or coordinates the programming through a third party provider for the customer.
On call status 24/7 for emergency service restoration of the EPSCA system, or assistance to other regional system partners as needed will be split with senior technician and the Operations Manager.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of and skills in:
Considerable knowledge in 800 MHz Trunking systems
in 2-Way radio systems
in RF antenna systems
in RF interference
in IP networks and servers
in microwave systems
Strong collaborative problem-solving orientation.
Use of personal computer equipment and software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
Ability to:
Organize, analyze, interpret and evaluate problems and provide practical, cost effective solutions.
Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, contractors and the general public, both orally and in writing.
Prioritize workload and manage time efficiently meeting deadlines and completing assignments in a timely manner.
Read and interpret schematic drawings and technical manuals related to 2-way radio, microwave, and electronic equipment.
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to High School diploma or equivalent and one (1) or more years of progressively responsible related experience in general Trunked 800 MHz radio systems operations.
Licenses/Requirements: Valid Washington State Driver's License by date of hire and maintain an insurable driving record. Must be able to successfully pass an extensive background investigation.
