The Challenge: utilize TRBO, VHF simplex, across the vast distance of 650' (+- 25') in a heavily industrial area. Open-air environment, nearly line of sight, portable to portable (XPR6550).

The Result: Not even close to intelligible.

Basic encryption enabled, radios new out of the box.

Seattle PD South put out a call for a suspicious male with a vehicle full of packages, looking in front yards with a flashlight, as reported by a UPS driver.

First unit enroute: I didn't catch the suspect description, was it a white male wearing all red?

ETA- second unit arriving in the area seems to happened upon a house fire.

ETAx2- Someone set off a bunch of fire extinguishers in their neighbor's garage, no fire. I would be PISSED.

SPD North:

1B12: Can you have Charles Street (SDOT) respond to the bottom of Holman Road? The drains are all backed up with standing water across the road. I kicked junk out of a few of them but the water is coming up out of the- OH CRAP!

Dispatch: Boy-12 are you ok?

1B12: Uh yeah

1B32: Radio, B12 just discovered the water is about 3 feet deep.

Is this what Wilrobnson was asking about a couple years ago? On 5th Ave just outside Columbia Center/Tower?

The idiot who wrote that article should be fired, then everybody who read and believed it should be institutionalized. Its truly amazing how far downhill the media and populace have gone in the past 30 or so years. No wonder people are running to the woods and building bunkers.

And further, Wilrobnson was inquiring after the small yagi antenna hidden in the shrubbery.

Re: the wifi network- the absolute, mind-numbing stupidity of the average Seattle resident and/or Stranger reader is once again immortalized in print.

Speaking of... anyone see the Mick Dodge pilot on National Geographic? Now they're filming about a local Chimicum homicide on the peninsula right now...

Saw the news article about the show.

Kinda curious about his "running route" from Forks, through the Methow Valley and ending up in Bellingham.

Reeks of self-aggrandizing BS to me.

Just a bit eh?

Saw the guy in the kilt in Belfair a couple of times in the past so it was funny to see him up close.

SPD South:

3R11: FYI there's a car going north from my traffic stop location at MLK South and Trenton with flat tires....and the car is on fire, if someone could catch up to it?

If only there was a road to the top of Rainier:

Think if there was a commo site up on Rain-dog. It could cover way into eastern WA and who knows how far out to sea.

County puts out; 'traffic hazard, pick-up with its plow down, sparks flying..'. couple minutes later: 'fire responding to fully engulfed vehicle fire..', a little later road unit: 'one in custody dui'.

Yes, yes you can go to jail for being stupid. It's a round-about way, but quite possible.
