Heard many different reasons from other people….

———
“I quite submitting information to them many years ago; because of being told I was wrong, in an extremely arrogant attitude.”
———
I rarely submit anything to RR. In the past, I’ve tried to advise of changes that should be made to entries in the database, but it was never done. So, I gave up.
———
”Because that's what they do. RR has realistically gone to straight trash. Lindsay doesn't care and his administration don't care. Look me up on RR and check out some of the BC I had to deal with when giving both truthful and opinionated info. And the problem is most of the company scanner dB updates were in on the crap too, sans uniden man.”
———
”Not always true. I've seen cases where admins change data based on what THEY think it should be rather than data that came right out of a system radio. That was around the time I just gave up submitting accurate data.
Now you have people in the western part of a county wondering why they can't hear anything, and are confused when I tell them they have to use what is labelled the 'east site', as that is the one that serves their area. And complaining about that does no good whatsoever. It just gets you labelled as a troublemaker and trashed by other admins.

Of course I know not all admins are the same, and there are some really good ones there, but all it takes is one to spoil a great recipe.”
———
“I do not support RR in any form or fashion. And I never will.
———
Over the years RR,has done far more harm than good to our beloved scanning hobby.

More encryption darkness these days that is killing our hobby due to;
1) RR's streaming, supplied by very unwise feed providers.
2) RR's wide open to all nation wide database.
3) RR's wide open to all forums where some reveal way too much information.”

Checking groups.io posts today to see what others are saying about RR…
——————————————————
“That about sums it up.  The few times I've attempted to ask questions, that were not in-violation of one of their many policies, I got chewed-out by one of the know-it-alls.  I worked in the Comm Dept of a Class 1 Railroad for several years, and when I attempted to contribute anything, they acted as if it was either a state secret, or I was clueless about the very system I supported for my employer.  Radio Ɍeference has become a bit of an elitist club, as far as those that run it, which is unfortunate, since a lot of good people look to it as an authority on radio-related material.  Politics have destroyed many a hobby, and this is just another example.”

I stopped because while I want to help others in the community, I'm not wanting to provide pro-bono information that the RR owner then licenses (read: charges $$ for/makes pecuniary gain on) in bulk to corporate entities like unident.

Back when I was submitting minor data, their guy Tim Heaton seemed to respect it & incorporated it into the DB quickly. But I've heard from other contributors that a RRDB admin
(may or may not have been THeaton) bounced it back to the contributor and told them to post it in the appropriate forum so it could be peer-reviewed and a consensus reached. Makes-sense,
with all the dummies and GIGO risk they have, but I can see how it'd annoy some people.

a LOT of people on "radio toolshed" and other platforms that host radio content are arrogant and aggressive. Im not even joking. They are like reddit, twitter, facebook users...ugh.

Also why is this site correcting that name...something about that...?
