Don't ya love it?

The truck that broke down on the way to the fire is a 2005 . Blew a turbo line. But, it's 15 years old and needs to be replaced.... :stupid:  :bsflag: :nobs: :liar:

There's federal money out there to replace rigs since 9/11. Don't know if Yakima qualifies or they want it. It's why Seattle is replacing some of their tillers. I was in Pasco last month when the vehicle that had the Jaws assigned to it didn't leave the station for 20 mins after the first rigs arrived at the accident. They attempted to start the vehicle and toned out Walla Walla 5 for backup until they finally got it going. Kinda scary.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Normally in the city when you call 911 you'll get a city apparatus and an ambulance. City apparatus come with 3 EMT's and ALS ambulance comes with 1 EMT and 1 Paramedic. I've noticed Yakima Fire is starting to phase in 4-man crews. They also have 2 paramedics on the department but without paramedic supplies. (insert cheese for Hines' whine here.)

Now, you may be referring to the taskforce plan that can be seen here: http://www.westvalleyfire.com/default.asp?pageid=66&deptid=1
Each fire district has a pre-determined list of what apparatus are dispatched, should the incident exhaust the resources of that fire district. That page shows the list for each district. You'll see that by the time a district calls for a 4th alarm, there are quite a few pieces of apparatus on scene. Yakima's 4th alarm requires call back for a mechanic, ET (electronics technician) and a dispatcher to either staff the center downtown or the MOPS command Winnebago. The ET is there with bags and bags or replacement radio batteries and to troubleshoot any radio-related problems.

The call last thursday where E-94 broke down was only on it's 1st alarm, or initial dispatch. Therefore, a mechanic was not automaticaly dispatched, but was requested to respond once the breakdown occcured. He is known as "Mechanic 90."

Yakima Fire used a streets bond and grant money to buy the tiller. I think they're going to try for more grants beings everybody sees right through that tiller and has no desire to give them more.

Got it. Sorry, changed sections in school today. Hello diodes, transistors and modulation. I have no brain....which isn't contrary to most of the time.

No worries.

an engine at 91 and a platform to replace 93's . in my opinion that is what needs replacing and that alone.

I thought it was funny that the article said most front line pieces are 15-20 years old.
