North Highline (King County Fire District 11) Fire Chief Scott LeVeille resigned this morning clearing the way of reducing the budget for 2010.

LeVeille's resignation will take effect February 28, 2010 and his current annual salary is $186,362. Burien / Normandy Park (King County Fire District 2) Fire Chief Mike Marrs will become chief of both departments. Other fire chief services, training and inspection services will be consolidated with Fire District 2.

The resignation will save 2 or 3 firefighter positions, meaning no firefighters will be laid off.

Wow...thats one hell of a salary. No wonder our State/local governments are in the hole.

I totally agree that he was overpaid for just 2 stations (18 & 19) in his district with 35 paid personnel and 20 volunteers. I think the City of Seattle chief (Gregory Dean) makes quite a bit less and he has 40 stations and I don't know how many career personnel he has under his hat.
