Lets see... 48 volts and, say, 60mA (which is being generous for modern telephone lines) gives you about 3 watts. The real wattage would be less given the voltage drop a telephone line gets under load. Of course be sure not to use it on a voice line as 15mA will take the circuit off-hook and draw a dial tone.
In the good ol days you could suck down a good 100-120mA depending on the C.O. gear.
I suppose its a good product for those who are hard up for a couple of watts.
