I know this is a pretty general question but can someone give me a few of the "active" RR freqs around the Seattle area? I'm updating my V8000 and have a few extra channels to fill up.

161.160 - Tukwilla to Edmonds, BNSF
161.415 - Tukwilla to Nisqually, BNSF
161.250 - Edmonds North to Border, BNSF
161.100 - Everett East to Latah(?), BNSF
160.455 - Station Services, Seattle (Amtrak)
161.205 - Amtrak Police Interop (Not very active around here, if at all)

Obtained from the "On Track, On Line" website. I've plugged these in on my Amtrak trips, and they seem pretty accurate.

Brad.

This was posted in May. Are these still the primary frequencies. Did I read that the UP is going digital in some areas? although I have been a railfan since I was a kid I have never listened to them. I appreciate your information. Thank you.

I don't think it'll be going digital until late next year. VHF is still plenty active. Listening to them now.

I have my Icom V8000 in the house now and it's my primary base VHF rig. Mind you this is from Bellevue and with a high-gain antenna:

Here's what I've caught so far.... all of the BNSF labeled freqs were quite active today:

AAR CH FREQ STATION
--------- ------ ----------

08 160.230 BNSF Seattle?
36 160.65 <squelch opened>
37 160.665 <squelch opened>
54 160.92 BNSF Seattle -> East
58 160.98 BNSF Snohomish?
63 161.055 <squelch opened>
66 161.10 BNSF MAINLINE (Everett -> Skykomish)
70 161.16 BNSF Seattle Yard DISPATCH (automated markers)
76 161.25 BNSF Snohomish
80 161.31 BNSF Seattle Yard
87 161.415 BNSF Auburn? (Heard Auburn mentioned)
96 161.55 BNSF Seattle Yard

Just narrowbanding soon, shouldn't be much of a problem listening in on a wide band receiver if you're close enough. Digital is still a ways off.
