What's the line from Moyie Springs (ID) north into CAN?
(Researching).

It's UP, Spokane to Eastport, then the CP takes over into Canadia. Used to be the Spokane International years ago

I wonder if it's still active.
Google Earth appears to be a train sitting on tracks, but really blurry.

Absolutely, it probably sees at least 4-5 trains each way not counting locals. Lots of grain and potash and some lumber . 160.740 also listen to the Spokane stream which has some Washy line coverage

I was up on other business, one ran through.
Sounds good echoing off the canyon walls.

No, not like when I lived in Monroe.
I am only using an HT, not set up yet with a rooftop antenna- yet.

What's a good source for deciphering the signs along the tracks?
There's two crossings near the house, so I get eight blast 24/7.

Some pics of the UP along Moyie MP 126.5 detector.
What's the greasy thing?

first one appears to be a 'flange or wheel lubricator" The other 2 photos are a trackside dragging equipment detector that broadcasts a message of ok or not ok on the road channel if it is a 'talker'. Some are silent unless there is a defect.

Nice, I may pass through there on my way to Glacier next month. Which road is that along the tracks?

Moyie River road/ CO 34, about 4 miles south of US95.
The river parallels it also on the west.
