The Abbotsford Air Show is today and Saturday & Sunday so I was monitoring my air show frequency bank today to see if I could hear any activity. Yesterday I heard the Snowbirds doing practice runs. Around 8PM this evening 237.800 came on with weird singing! That is the frequency the Blue Angels use for solos. They are not at the Abbotsford Air Show this year so what the heck was this? It sounded a little off center freq so I tried tuning up and down with still slightly distorted results. I switched from AM to FM and now it was coming in loud and clear. Some kid singing in Japanese with a lot of reverb. Full signal strength. Must have been a wireless mic. Received it on 2 scanners. This would have been a shocker to the Blues if they were performing this year up here. :)

Full strength and very annoying (I heard it too).

That's just outside of the F ed Sat Comm band... I get a transponder most days here on 258.3625 - combo of Spanish and Russian.

Almost certain it was a wireless mic.

Wil was listening to it over my phone.

Sounded like it was in a large hall from the reverb.

Yeah, there's a Korean church near me that has all manor of weird wireless mics running though the VHF federal band and the UHF milcom band.

What amazes me is how far they carry. I kind of doubt they are FCC certified and most certainly more than 100 milliwatts!

Probably a Pyle Audio microphone 170-270MHz although output is only 10dBm FM.

That is the only system I am familiar with that is currently being sold (in the US) that operates in those ranges. Nady has one that goes up to 217MHz.
