I asked on the other forum and didn't get any solid replies. I found a curious issue with my XTS 2500 and was just wondering if this is normal behavior with the Motorola firmware...

I was programming some UHF HAM repeaters into my radio (via FPP) and noticed that the Rx CTCSS wasn't working... After some head-scratching, I switched the bandwidth from 25khz to 12.5khz and the Rx CTCSS is now working fine...

My XTS has the R17.01.01 firmware.

Is this an ALT radio? Has it been aligned/'benched'?

I don't know what ALT means. I can't speak to the latter but it seemed to work 100% and my audio quality sounded perfect when using P25 or analog modes.

So, the original post is a bit old. Shortly after that post, I upgraded both my XTS 2500 and 5000 to the latest R20 release using the FlashZap method -- and then reloaded the codeplug manually (as recommended so that the codeplug is migrated to the latest version.)

I am noticing some issues with stored memories after the upgrade on both radios.

New question: is there a way (in the CPS software) to reset the radios to a "factory fresh" state -- wiping all stored user data/memories? With all of the WSP/HAM changes, I need to reprogram them anyway.

You could find a blank code plug on another site and blow it in.

RX Side of the radio was not properly decoding CTCSS? Can you "align" that?

The hint he gave is that it happens in narrow but not wide..

If hes a hair off frequency..

Same thing happens on trunked systems...control channel sounds perfect when programmed as a conv rx freq but decode rate is like 20% when you attempt to set it as a control channel to follow the system.

You'd be surprised how finicky some things are when they're off freq.

Human ear can't tell, but the decoder circuit sure can.
