I stopped at a yard sale today and found a fairly late model EF Johnson UHF mobile radio, mobile speaker, and NMO quarter wave antenna all for $1. Everything appears legit but I can't find a model number on this but it is programmable and synthesized. Does anyone work with these radios and is there any hope of re-programming it for the 450 ham band? Thanks for any info.

I think I answered my own question after some research on the web. This is a EF Johnson Challenger 7172 model, circa 1994, 35 watts, 8 channels, 450-488 MHz. Any hams in the Puget Sound area running with these radios?
