The racing team I drive for has a few of these little babies that we use for on-track communications. They are a 4W 16-channel UHF HT with only the first 4 channels programmed. The radios are CTCSS/PL capable, but I am assuming that they are shipped either with the same PL code or with PL disabled. If you get enough users of these things in once place, we can start stomping on each other.

Does anyone know more about these things? I can't really find anything except where to buy more of them. I'm sure the vendor would be happy to program them for a fee, but it's not like we lease them, we own them -- we should be able to program them.

What I'd like to do is be able to field-program them so I can add the rest of the licensed TX freqs (there are 12 -- the callsign they operate under is WPFD909) and add some additional UHF freqs so we can monitor race control/safety without the crew chief having to carry another radio. Additionally, I'd be able to change the PL codes on our radios so in the event that all licensed freqs are in use, we can still operate (most of our race comms are short and sporadic, so frequency sharing usually isn't a problem as long as we aren't all using the same PL).

All of the radios I have owned personally have been HAM stuff that is keypad-programmable so I have never bothered to program with a computer, but that obviously won't be an option with these things. I will need to get a programming cable and software -- I just don't know where to start so I put this thread up wondering if anyone had any experience with these of if there was some generic cable/software.

What is the full FCC ID on the back of the radio?

This I do not know -- I'll check when we dig it back out of the trailer. Did a 16-hour on Saturday, checkered dropped at midnight. Naturally, everything is still in a haphazard pile in the front of the trailer. :)

Will that help identify it as far as programming compatibility, or if it is a possible rebrand of another manufacturer?

Makes sense -- this brand doesn't appear to exist anywhere else. And for some reason, the case looks "Kenwood-y" to me, if that is even a thing.

I'll try to dig the radio bag out this weekend when we get around to unloading stuff.

Alot of Chinese stuff being offered, if one buys large enough quantity, one may name it anything they want!

Thats actually a rebranded Wouxuon portable.

Really? Interesting. I know some of the other Wouxon products utilize the same programming cable as a Kenwood HT. In fact, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on their new 2m/70cm HT soon -- I'll have to try the programming cable that I buy with that.

Maybe CHIRP will talk to it...

Looks suspiciously similar to the Wouxun KG-833 which happens to have the same RF specs.



I picked up a KG-UV6D today so when we get the Victories out I'll have to connect them with the programming cable and see what they identify as...

I found this site and this old thread in particular while trying to find information about the Victory GT-18 radios, I'm having a bit of a problem with them and good information is next to impossible to find. So my question is, is there any update available on this topic? Do we know for certain who made these radios? And if so, which specific model is it?

Wow, I completely forgot about this thread...

Anyway, I had done some more research and it turned out from the FCC ID that the radios were a re-brand of a Unier F6, a pretty common low-end Chinese 2-way. Unfortunately, after trying multiple cables and a few different software programs, I was never able to get into the radios.

Eventually, one got dropped and broke and I used that as an opportunity to replace the whole thing with KG-833s.

One thing I do know about the Victory/Unier radios is that they use an uncommon mic/speaker jack layout that I was never able to find a common match with. Luckily, the Wouxun portables use the much more common Kenwood jack layout that you can find "off the shelf" steering wheel/helmet interfaces for.

I just emailed Unier China requesting access to download a manual and programming software. I'll let you know if I receive an positive response.
