Just download the F/W update application and select the 396XT model. No F/W file needed.

What does it fix you ask?

Thanks. Yeah it kind of hit me today at work. I have other options but it would seem like Uniden should have thought of this...

Fortunately, I'm talented against programmer incompetence.

The only way around it was to use the old updater and use the SCN file.

Here's a quickie package with both files to update to the latest firmware. I've done this with my 996XT and it works perfectly.
