Ok - an old friend of mine has asked for help in programming a GRE PSR-500 scanner that he acquired to listen to the Sno County SERS trunking system. I know very little about these GRE scanners. From the information I've gleaned in several minutes of web-searching, it appears the radio came with a cable (which he says he has), and some kind of "demo" Cd. I guess that CD does not contain any programming software. So, what software package is recommended for programming this radio? It appears that Butel and Win500 are the popular ones. Or, better yet - does someone already have the software and a Snohomish County "template" they would be willing to dump into his radio? He lives in the Edmonds area. Thanks, Brad. |

Yea, happy to help. I use Win500 from www.starrsoft.com and am very happy with it. The Sno County files are in the file sharing area and you can just load them up in win500 and program the scanner. |

I have found the preloaded frequencies and talkgroups in the PSR-500 are worthless for the three metro areas I use it in. It worked much better once I entered the right information. |
