I was looking for a wide-range scanner antenna for my 2nd NMO mount. (I previously just used a trunking-specific 800 Mhz antenna.)

I looked at several brands but most were pretty tall. I wanted to keep it as short as possible.

I went with the Laird Scanner antenna: http://www.wpsantennas.com/abscanc-ante ... black.aspx

It's only 20" tall. (The link is for the black, non-spring model.)

I am very impressed with the performance. Now, my airband traffic is full-quieting. Most of the major trunking sites around the core Seattle area have a full signal. I can even reach Tacoma/Everett (although it's a bit scratchy.)

For the price, it's hard to beat.

I'll post a picture later today.

Antenex was brought out by Laird. The Antenex name has now all but gone away. We use them for their mobile antennas exclusively as they seem to last the longest...

I second Joey's nomination, I use the Comtelco antenna and love it.
