I was looking for a wide-range scanner antenna for my 2nd NMO mount. (I previously just used a trunking-specific 800 Mhz antenna.)
I looked at several brands but most were pretty tall. I wanted to keep it as short as possible.
I went with the Laird Scanner antenna:
http://www.wpsantennas.com/abscanc-ante ... black.aspxIt's only 20" tall. (The link is for the black, non-spring model.)
I am very impressed with the performance. Now, my airband traffic is full-quieting. Most of the major trunking sites around the core Seattle area have a full signal. I can even reach Tacoma/Everett (although it's a bit scratchy.)
For the price, it's hard to beat.
I'll post a picture later today.
