This is nothing new really. AFAIK, it's always been a felony to use a police scanner in the commission of a crime. What's silly is the state laws saying that you can't even have one in your car unless licensed. If the states were to actually waste money enforcing this... it'd just be another example of wasted tax dollars. We have far more important issues to worry about.

yea I see nothing new here but additionally trying to prove that people used it on the stream rather then a traditional scanner.

That was my point. I see where a criminal wouldn't take the time to learn how to program a scanner but could download the app.
