I always used HF-ACARS in demo mode and just restarted it every 10 min since it was sort of abandon ware

I am late to the game on this one... check it out http://sky.geocities.jp/kgacars/indexworld.html

Gonna play with it this evening to see if its cool. Appears to be acarsd functions with HFACARS download no need for all the DDE mess! cool!

I tried installing it a while back and it didn't work well. I think you need the JPN language pack installed. Also, it's not for HF. It only works on VHF.

PC-HFDL is the one that works for HF.

tinkering with it last night it works for HF and VHF, version 1.01 works in english version 1.1 is not engrish. the sad part is that the 1.01 is time limited demo, later on they decided to make it freeware.

PCHFDL is great but the 2.0 is like 40 bucks and I dont think its worth that for software that will never see development again. PCHFDL 1.0 wont log or DDE so you cant link to mapping tools

KGHFDL will do VHF and HF
KGACARS will do VHF (this is free)

KGHFDL is in english ACARS is not

its 4000yen or 50 bucks for the software

they seem to only allow "online bank transfer" which they use a html page ...haha

I emailed the author to ask how I can paypal. the KGHFDL software is nice program as its a all in one application that works very nice. (apposed to having to buy PCHFDL and hack into acarsD where you still dont get any maps and must use yet another application to plot the flights) or pay for planeplotter and spend over 50 bucks USD

decode acars up here on an apple iPhone using this software app http://www.blackcatsystems.com/ipad/iPad_ACARS_Pad.html

app works well as long as the volume level is set low on your receiver and the iphone bottom speaker/mic is close to the receivers speaker... or use the prescribed method http://www.blackcatsystems.com/ipad/iPa ... d_FAQ.html

seen afew strange acars messages over the past few months from cyvr or aircraft in the area on the decoder

been monitoring 131.550 and 131.475 for data

I run ACARDS on the PC for VHF ACARS and that rocks!

I never could decode HF ACARS even with the right HF ACARS software; found it easier to listen just to the ARNIC HF stuff, which I get really well on most nights.
