When they are going through the drill with the license numbers, the comment about a "pick" is mentioned. What is a pick? Thanks~ |

I believe it is PIC and not pick. A pic is a driver’s license number associated with a license plate. I don't know what the PIC spells out though... |

PIC is Personal ID Code... Its your OLN , Operators License Number, which is your drivers license, and they are attached for the Registered Owner (RO) of a vehicle sometimes. They can give LE terry for a stop, if they are run and there are wants or suspensions. If there is a male driving, and the male RO is suspended, then terry has been met to stop the vehicle for a violation. If the only PIC is for a female RO and male driver then that will not give an officer terry for a stop. That is why you will hear data on a plate, and PIC for a male... Any others that baffle people? |

I'm not sure I understand; if PIC is your driver's license number then everyone with a drivers license has a PIC number. So why would the officer ask if there is a PIC attached to this driver? Thank you very much for the information. |

Officer's ask if there is a PIC attached to a vehicle registration. not a drivers license. |

When a plate is run on a MDC (in Snohomish county anyway), it runs the PIC automatically and only displays info if the subject isn't clear in the system. |

This can be reversed also, e.g. check a name for 'all vehicles registered to'. There's a lot of 'database' and cross-reference nowadays. |

A PIC is only attached is the name on the REG clearly points to a single person in the DOL database... So when a name is spelled wrong, or is a nick name a PIC isn't attached to the vehicle reg... So not every REG has a PIC... But generally its 50/50 on PIC or not on a reg... |

Not all MDC or MCT systems run like that though... Some check you Drivers/PIC/CPL/Firearm database all at the same time... Here, it just runs the plate and the deputy has to then copy and paste the PIC to run it... Which ONLY returns a drivers... Then they have to copy/paste the name/dob for wants/everything else... |

I ran a III on someone I probably shouldn't have. Back when most stuff was DOS based and wasn't traceable. |

In Washington, the PIC is the last 5 of your drivers license. Say your number was 451N6, the 45 subtracted from 100 is your year of birth. The third number is just an administrative use and the 'N6' is code for the month and day of your birthday with the 'N' being the month and the '6' being the day. Long ago and far away, I saw a card that broke it all down. |
