I have been using a PRO-2004 for my home/base scanning for a while, and this evening realized that I was not getting a certain frequency. When I checked the channel, NFM was flashing, and the frequency was correct. I reprogrammed the frequency, and NFM stopped flashing. The frequency in question is 154.995, for Bremerton PD. I think I remember getting it, but then I remember a friend with an older handheld that is about the same vintage as the 2004 that couldn't get it either, we thought there might be something broken because she could still get everything else. Is there something about the frequency that makes it hard/impossible for older scanners to receive it? I can get it in a metal sided house on my PRO164, with a ducky antenna, and not on my nice outdoor setup, which would lead me to believe that its the scanner. I also get the frequency just fine here on my mobile setup, which is a Uniden BC355C with a through the glass antenna and 16' of Coax... I even parked my car next to my antenna mast, and got the frequency just fine...

On the flip side of this, the Fire1 channel here is a voted system, and only opens the repeater nearest the station being toned. I can get the tones/voice off of a tower 20-30 miles off, which would lead me also to the conclusion that its the scanner, because the nearest tower with Bremerton PD is only about 10 miles off, and I get other traffic off of the same tower all the time, I know this through Fire toning... so I am sure that its not a weak signal being attenuated through my coax, because fire would be as well... Speaking of attenuation...my attenuator switch is set to 0db, not 10db.

I seem to remember getting the frequency when I first plugged in the 2004 back in august, but now I don't seem to be.... I would hate to have to replace my best/favorite scanner...

Idea's?

I had a PRO-2004 and it worked fine on 154.995 so its probably something in the radio. I don't remember any birdies on that freq. It could be a frontend issue. Can you receive anything on nearby frequencies ?

I had one of these models.
It wasn't real sensitive VHF.
It earned it's keep when cell phones were new.
