Post subject:  Recommendation for narrowband with known discriminator tap

Hi folks,

I am looking for a recommendation for a narrowband mobile scanner for which the discriminator tap is published. I'm know there are many different scanners that fit the bill so I thought I would draw on the expertise of the group.

Thank you

Clark

I've seen mods for almost all the recent Uniden models. An important question is which frequencies you'll be monitoring - do you want stuff like 380 MHz or 760 MHz?

I use the GRE PSR-500 because the larger package gives you more room to put in the tap.

Isn't the GRE PSR-500 a handheld?

I believe the GRE PSR-600 is the base/mobile unit.

Yup, I run unitrunker and I do own both the 500 and 600, and I know it will not be well received, but in a few weeks I will add the Homo patrol to the pile on my desk with the GPS setup, just to see what it can do, poor 2051,163,164,96,97 and 95 the list, justs goes on, can you so say "hooked".

My prob with the Home Pooper is, does it have the ability to edit via software? If not, you're relying on potential garbage from user submissions that are either false or partially complete or completely lacking. Even a PL tone that is incorrect on a programmed receiver would make me *&&^% outraged! Technology can be freaking awesome or GIGO.

If we see a submission here, it is discussed by experts or those with years in the hobby whose opinion I trust. It's probably ok for an area where nothing has changed for years but woe to you if you depend on it for being accurate.

a btc15 is cheap good and lots of room, the d-tap is incredibly simple
