I'd like to purchase a decent computer controllable scanner that I can hook to my computer and set to search/scan unknown stuff all day while I'm at school. I'd like it to record the audio as well as log the frequency, tone etc. Does such thing exist and what software to go along with it? I'd probably load everything onto a thin client and use it to stream different things as well as record utilizing the scanner. |

On the Uniden side, the cheapest you could get away with is the BC246T. Next up is BR330T, BCD396T, BC346XT, and BCD396XT. The 330 is out of production, so you'll only be able to find one used. bcTool will allow you to do all that, and it's free. It's a bit buggy, but I've never lost (recording) data. Back up your programming regularly if you change it often. PSR-5/600 do have packet output, and that's kinda nice. |
