After the recent Freemont Fire I was thinking it might be interesting to set up a scanner to Record Tactical Fire Talk Groups. Like for SNOPAC I would set it up to record Tac 2, 4, and 6. What is the best way to Record ? I know you can use computer software or some scanners have Line Out to a Tape Recorder? |

I use ID Tracker 3. Patch cable from the scanner audio output to the line in/mic jack, records through the sound card into neatly sperated files. It's been a lifesaver for ID'ing seldom used stuff. |

bcTool is decent if you have a Uniden DMA scanner. |

I use this program to record my live feeds. http://www.snooper.se/ It has voice activated recording. And it can be setup to start a new file after a specific file size is reached. Which is nice when editing or trying to locate a specific incident via time. I also run a script that deletes files that are more than 10 days old. So the drive does not fill up with audio files. |

A laptop or a voice recorder with line in. Or be like a podcaster and get one of those grossly overpriced solid state recorders. I'll keep using this. |
