planning on buying a new base scanner.
Mostly listen to the conventional and 800 trunked up here in Snohomish Co. (all analog, so I have no need to pay $$ for the 796 digital model).
question for those of you who already own a BC780 and/or BC785:
Is the LCD area and size of the characters different? I have seen various pictures of the front panel display all over the Internet but contradicting photos of what the displays look like. It would appear the 780 has smaller (almost illedgible) display whereas the 785 looks like an improvement.
Any truth to this?
Other than that, the only other differece I can tell is 780 is 500 ch vs 1000 ch on the 785, which IMHO don't feel the increased cost justifies the extra channels.
