Post subject:  JT-1000 program question

The JT-1000's are set from the factory to be able to program the 83 standard "Motorola" Digital -- DPL tones. However, I am told that there are "secret" numbers or a special numbering plan in which to program the remaining 21 "GE" DPL codes from the keyboard, without having to re-program the unit. Is anyone willing to share the secret??

What firmware rev do you have?

Jim, I just have the Portable and program key. No software. I purchased the unit back in 2001. Great unit. Lets me check out open channels for customers/clients and allows me to be able to program in the field. I am sure that if I had the unit re-programmed that it could be made to function on all 104 DPL tone. I have found that there are at least two "special" numbers that allow use of GE tones. MTM

I have a poster at my desk that is a table of MOT and GE tones. If I scanned that would it be useful for you?

The JT-1000, as programmed, from the factory, will only program the standard 83 Motorola DPL tones. If you try to enter one of the 21 GE DPL tones, from the front keypad, using only the side mounted program key, the radio will readout "error". However -- there are special CODES that will allow you to enter the 21 GE DPL codes. As an example: If you want to program GE - DPL 122, you would key in 221. The short answer is to have the radio re-programmed to except all DPL codes directly. I have located a few of the "special" codes myself. I'm just asking if someone else has any knowledge of the special GE program codes. Thanks, MTM

The Jedi series CPS software that I've used allows you to directly enter any PL tone. You can enter it by Hz or by MOT code. If the Hz doesn't match a MOT code the code field just shows **. So I imagine the radio doesn't really care what the code is as long as a valid (radio capable) tone is entered.

When you're programming these into the radio, are you using CPS or just the FPP with the side key? In the mean time, I'll see what I can learn about this.

To get the firmware you power it on and right after the self test you hit the # 3 side key (fisr one above the PTT) five times and it should display the firmware rev.

I did look in the user guide and saw no mention (not a big surprise) on how to do what you want. I don't have a JT1000 around to try on, but I did try it on my FPP XTS5000 (also a XTS2500) and it only has the 83 standard DCS/DPL codes from the FPP menu. I did try to enter a non standard DPL and it would not allow me to. I understand some DPLs will open other DPL's. For a ton of info on DPL/DCS codes look at Mike's Syntor page http://onfreq.com/syntorx/dcs.html.

Also you may want to ask on the Batlab forums. That is what I was going to do when I had the F/W rev.

Happy New Years to one and all. I have R03.02 firmware version. When you program # 525 into the radio as a tonel code -- the radio will transmit a DPL code of D145, one of 21 GE DPL codes. There must be a complete "secret list" of codes to access the 21 non-standard GE DPL codes. This radio came direct from the factory.

If you read the above link you will see that DPL codes are not all unique. Its not a secret code or anything, its simply that some are mathematically equivalent and they show you a table of how it works. This also holds true for "inverted" codes. For each "inverted" code there is an equivalent uninverted code that will work the same.

You should be able to use the table to find other codes which will work in place of your GE codes.

That is a really good article on DCS codes.

I have read some of this guys website before, but missed the DCS/DPL(r) page.

Thanks!
