Interesting (read: stupid) things I've done with RF...

*Keyed up on a portable in a friend's kitchen and the microwave turned on to a 2min defrost cycle. Keyed up again and blew all the GFCI circuits in the walls.
*Keyed up a work radio near a laptop, caused it to reboot. Took 2 days for the LCD screen to normalize.
*Keyed up while typing at a desktop computer, keyboard generated random key strokes into the document and the monitor lost it's horizontal hold for a moment.
*Keyed up a mobile radio at a gas station in Cle Elum and made the station bell that is attached to the pressure line you drive on ring.
*A trooper who was pulled up next to me, driver-door to driver-door, keyed up his 100W VHF and made all the electronics in my car go dim for a moment.

I've heard of...
*HAMs with high power mobile HF rigs pulling into a closed gas station, key up, and cause the florescent lights in the canopy to illuminate while transmitting.
*Cooking a hot dog on an omni-direction whip at very high powers.
*Any assortment of RF unintentionally influencing appliances. (see FCC Part 15)

It's become increasingly harder to [accidentally] do this sort of stuff since manufacturers are getting smart to the increase in ambient RF.

When I key up on my mobile 2 meter rig in 25' infront of my house it turns on the
motion sensor operated front porch light (55 watts).

Driving near Sequim there is a elk crossing signal on the highway which is
activated by the elks radio collars. Transmitting on 2 meters going by the signal
used to turn it on but they must have fixed this problem because last time I was
there it didn't trigger it anymore.

If I key up on HF in the shack at home it makes my printer activate.

My atomic setting clocks will not set until the AM radio station transmitter about 3 blocks down the street goes to low power at sunset.

Time to get rent a back hoe :bowrofl:

Good old RF.

I remember when car alarms would activate from passing mobile RF.
In the early days of cell phones [bricks]; one had to dial the city/tower then the cell number.
Or how about old school cordless phones & baby monitors...
10 channel Bearcats with the blinking lights...
Drunken, womanizing Wilrobnson when he used to smoke...

Ive been with people on the Tiger Mt broadcast site and watched their dash go crazy and the electronic 4 wheel drive system start to go nuts..

I key up driving through neighborhoods just to see how many lights I can actuate...

My first radio install job I did, I ran the feedline right next to the back of the car's clock and fan controls.

When I keyed up, the clock would go to 9999 and the entire lights on the fan controls would go on.

When I was in the burglar and fire alarm business, we used to use our portable business band radios (460 Mhz) for testing. Lot's of time the equipment went wild when we pushed the transmit button, and every once in a while, would actually trip the alarm.

We had higher-powered business band radios in our trucks and these would set off the old style radar detectors. Some of our guys played a game that when a sports car came speeding past them on the freeway, they would key the mike and watch the guy slam on his brakes
