As a sad, sad substitute for a scanner, I sometimes monitor the Seattle Fire Department's Real-Time 911 page:

http://www2.seattle.gov/fire/realTime91 ... sSmall.htm

Often I see this curious phrase in the "Type" column:

"Medic Response, 7 per Rule"

Does anybody have a clue as to what it means?

It is called a Med 7 response meaning a minium of 7 persons required to run the call, usually a CPR or Assault with Weapons response.

Is there any significance between the entries in bold type and those not in bold type.

Thank you Sgt Bilko!

Some time ago I heard that under certain circumstances medical personel are not allowed to respond until the scene is "secure." Thismust be something like that. Sounds like a good idea!

Oh! I know this one!!

The calls shown in bold type are still active. As soon as a call is resolved or closed it will change over to regular type.

This has been arround for over 20 years. Do you really think a broken arm needs the same response as a Cardiac Arrest????????

You always got the closest SFD Eng. Co. with 3 on board, you got the closest Aid Car with 2 on board and you got the closest Medic Unit with 2 on board.
