Yup, that is how I felt to just had to buy something, that must be why a I have a pile of scnners and radios sitting on the desk and all around it, good thing the EX left years ago, I dont want explan to her the need to keep buying more, and the loud sound coming from my area. I will put a up a review when I get the new one in my hands,

What do you want to know? I've had one for several months now. It's a decent handheld but I wouldn't say it's on the quality of Icom/Yaesu/Kenwood or even Alinco -- but it's hard to beat the price.

The programming is a bit wonky but once it's up and running, it's fine.

If you're needing simple menu structure then you don't want this radio as it's completely different from any Icom. It reminds me of Yeasu's menu system but it's not terribly-hard to get use to -- it's just different.

They're up to Version 3 now... which is suppose to have some RF improvements...

The only semi-negative is that the antenna uses male SMA -- not the usual female SMA.

I do see that all Venison's come with USB programing and from what I can see from You Tube , programing by hand is a pain in the butt, but thats ok, If I am home there are three desktops and on the road my son has his laptop and I have mine, if that fails we both carry the droid X. I wish my Dad was alive today to see how things have changed. from the days when you had to plug in a Cristal.

LOL, I know what you mean. My Icom mobile rig has an annoying one -- but this isn't bad at all. Obviously, it's subjective but I don't think it's bad.

The frontend is very open (as it is a handheld) so excessive RF will open the squelch pretty easily.

The Tx is unlocked of course which is why I bought one. You never know when you may need that feature.

What ? No reverse burst on these chinese radios ? No pirated Micor squelch chips ? Hopefully they have some other good selling features like exploding Li-Ion batteries.

That's what I'm thinking.
This is probably why some guys end up going with commercial stuff.
