37.26 Was also one of the two VHF Low Band channels in use by the Dallas, TX PD on Nov. 22, 1963. as well. A stuck microphone on a motorcycle in the motorcade recorded the sounds of gun shoots that day and were part of the offical report.

However -- I still have no idea as to what Low Band frequencies were first used by the Seattle PD and the Tacoma PD. Thanks, Keep up the good work, MTM

The very first "Police Call" Radio channel assigned to local Washington State Police Depts was 2414 Khz -- and was used by ALL police Depts. within Washington State. Oregon was assigned 2442 Khz / Kcs.

FACT: The SECURE HF radio system - used at this time - is assigned to use 7 HIgh Frequencies -- between 2 - 9 Mhz - and 2414 Khz -- USB - is one of those 7 channels

The very FIRST Police radio channel is still in use By Washington State.

I know off topic. What was the freq for LAPD that was just above the AM band. Listened to it for years as a kid. 18 something...

1730 Khz -- just above the new extended AM broadcast band. The old 1730 tower IS located at 1266 Stadium Way in a park. The old 125 foot tall AM tower still stands -- inside a new microwave tower that supports various UHF and VHF antennas. LAPD along with the rest of LA County Police first used 1712 / 1714 Khz but later moved to the private channel of 1730 Khz because LA CITY was growing so fast. LAPD later added 2366 Khz to cover the West LA, Harbor and San Fernando Valley areas.

And don't forget that Both LA City Fire and Seattle Fire used 33.90 Mhz for many years.

My first 'scanner' was a converted taxi radio on 33.9. My mother hated that I had a 12v battery and battery charger going 24-7 in my bedroom...

LOL LOL All scanner geeks must be cut from the same cloth.

Was lucky enough to be able to buy the "remote station receiver" from the Long Beach Police Dept. An old RCA Tube rack mount beast that was 30 pounds or more. Only one channel -- 156.15. Had that unit on day and night -- in my bedroom.
