:D :D 95% of your post in correct. The FCC does NOT assign PL or DPL tones to users. HOWEVER ------ If you operate on a shared radio channel ---( and what radio frequency isn't ) ---- if you "access" a repeater that you are not licensed for --- then you are in violation of FCC rules. Example: Business channel --- 464.500 with two repeaters. One on Gold Mtn -- near Bremerton -- the second on Tiger Mtn near Issaquah. If you are only licensed to use the Gold Mtn repeater --- and your tone "brings up" the Tiger Mtn repeater --- you could be in trouble with the FCC --- as well as the operator / owner of the Tiger Mtn repeater. Just watch where you step. MTM

with afew thousand dollars in radio gear and countless hours of reading
either books or on the internet I got 95% right :)
see what 30+ years in radio experience will get you using
commercial two-way /frs/cb/swl-ssb/scanners analog and digital
