Sounds like the retractable antenna was the issue. Ive had a DT 400 for several years now. Good bug out radio.

Jim apparently that is for the DT-500... but Sangean released the DT-500W version. So it looks like they fixed whatever problems they had...

I think they are the same radio. I believe the "W" means it receives weather band as well as AM & FM.

If you read the stuff on the Universal page it shows the DT-500W in the write up. And the Universal specs page call it the DT-500W.

The specs page shows it has DSP so I wonder if it has the Silicon Labs Si4734 DSP chipset?

Like the new version of the Kaito 1103 & the County Comm GP-5/SSB have.

I saw on some web site that it would be avail. in March. But who knows where they got that info???

No new radio here for xmas
BUT did get the special digi update for the BCD436HP and a new pc to do the updating with, as an early xmas present from the wife :-)

The Sangean DT 500W is for sale now but it has horrible reviews. The DT 400W seems to be a much better radio.
