As a dim wit on radios I have to ask about the programing on the 996p. Is the "T" necessary for the ID's and if so how can I make it enter a letter?
So far I'm getting some of the local frequencies but missing a lot of others, mainly the railroads and marine.
Any help would be appreciated.

The T in the Intercept database is just a way to distinguish trunk talkgroups from frequencies. You don't need to enter it in to the scanner.

So I was all set to grab a 436HP but the guy at the store was trying to steer me towards a homopatrol 2 which I had never considered. Would anyone take a hp2 over the 436hp?
