Hi - I am looking for a mobile antenna for my scanners, I have a Pro-92 and a BC785D .. I am only interested in listening to Fire Depts. What would anyone recommend ??? Also, I have seen some other post - please confirm that the FD's are on analog still ... Thanks

Shane

The best review of mobile antennas in the History Of The Planet <g> can be seen at right here on this very web site. Great job again from Rich Williamson.

Dennis your correct rich's review is great, BUT FYI i use a cheap glass mount cell phone ant, that for me works great also, Rich put a lot of work into that review!

Glass mount? Wanna try an expeiment for me? Unscrew the ant from the external glass mount and see if it makes any difference.

My mobile antenna issue is the ferry - which I take often. So I'm restricted to about 22 inches. I have the Larsen and Maxrad 50-900 and both work well for scanning. The one that I always come back to is a simple (just a rod, no loading) 1/4 wave VHF cut antenna (about 18 inches).
