The Larsen is the best, for just receiving a 1/4 wave whip will do fine. I think about 17.5 inches. Length for the center freq is - 5540 devided by the freq, devided by 2

Laird makes a much better base loaded antenna BTW.

Moreover the Larsen maggot mounts are JUNK! The Maxrads, much better made. The ideal mobile antenna mount consists of a 3/4" hole drilled into the center of your vehicle roof and then install the motorola mount there 8) :mrgreen: 8)
