Heh.. I bet those people never really understood what that FCC Part 15 text blurb in the instruction manual of almost every electronic device they've ever bought really meant. Bet they do now. :)

On the other hand, I'm a little amazed that a P25 TRS (I'm making the assumption that that is the system they're talking about) is able to sufficiently jam 50 garage door openers which are probably all of different makes and models. That would have to be either a very poorly-engineered system or at least a very busy one unless all the garage door openers happen to just accidentally be operating on the control channel frequency.

I'm reminded of an interesting issue that Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY had back in the 80s.

Around I think it was like 6 PM or so, the guys working on radar equipment testing with live aircraft would notice literally a blob of interference on all instruments. This screwed up all sorts of testing until one day along with the FCC Enforcement Agents, they decided to investigate it. They first drove around Rome, NY and couldn't find it there but the DF pointed to this RFI back at the base. So they started driving around the base and landed on the PX. There was a lamp that had a badly designed circuit for a Clap-On type switch in it and talking to the PX Manager, they basically sold everyone on the base in the family housing this lamp. So at 6 PM, the interference was that bad from everyone with the lamp on.

I just put in a new garage door opener this weekend. Sears is very proud of the fact they use 351 MHz.
