~PSR-310~

Received my much anticipated shipment today. Just cracked it open, and I'm rounding up all of the remotes in the house so I can steal the batteries.

Jim, the wait is over!!!

Now the fun begins! :chaingun:

Take the batteries out of the other scanner if you need some. :D

I will bring in the scanner & cloning cable tomorrow.

LOL...I'll find some! I have it plugged into the wall for now. I've got the cable and drivers installed, it's connected to Win500, and now I just need to figure out how to use this thing...

I have a feeling I'll be up late researching on the interweb.

I took a shot Spud and couldn't do it. While the PSR-310 is a decent radio -- it just doesn't compare to the simplicity of the Uniden setup. The size comparison of the two scanner was surprisingly a big factor for me. The 346XT is a true pocket scanner. There are some definite benefits to the GRE style but I personally don't use them.

(A good example: If you're say a fire-only junkie and want to monitor ALL fire activity from different sites, trunks and/or conventional freqs -- then you can do this quite easily.)
You can with the Uniden models but it requires a bit more programming and set up time.

Well, I am brand new at the radio stuff. I have Jim holding my hand and giving me direction. I have programmed a few freqs into it, so I could make sure it works. I will spend tonight monkeying around with it and getting a larger list of freqs. I really wanted the 346xt, had just about committed to buying it, but then I found out that it does not do Military Air and that was one of the main reasons I was getting a scanner (for aircraft scanning and airshows). So...I can't say that I prefer one to the other yet, but so far this bad boy seems like it will do 1000x's more than I will probably ever figure out. I'd be glad to keep updating as I learn my equipment so y'all can see how the scanner works.

Been exciting so far...definitely picked up on some cool things coming over the air waves, and unfortunately a really sad one on the way home
