The ribbion connector for the LCD, how is it connected on the other end? Anyone have pics of the inside?

Well got the scanner don't know if it can be fixed. The guy tried to fix the ribbion cable buy removing it and soldering a crap load of wires to replace it. Didn't work he said. A shame but I only have $42 in it and also got a programming cable(20-047) & driver disc with it, now I have two. I'll order a new ribbion cable and see if I can make it work. If not it will make a good parts radio. It looks like brand new.

Date code looks like 2007 year.

yikes, I wonder if one could of just reset it as it has a connector like a mini-molusk or at least cleaned it up a bit. Maybe the two ends of the cable have a connector with a RS replacement

The inside looks the same as the pro2050, with a few different parts of course. The other end was soldered to the front board, I counted 22 solder points. I think if I can get a new ribbon cable, clean up what he did and can fix(if I can) where the traces pulled off it just might come back to life.Where the ribbon plugs in that connector is still there. IfI can't fix it a lot of parts can be used on the pro2050.

I don't know how similar the 2096 is to the 97, but this might help:
