FYI, the PSR-500 is $448.95 with FREE UPS ground shipping...

All of the other GRE scanners are on sale as well.

well you are saving 5 cents.

I know HRO will price match you can likely talk them into a 5 cent cut

HRO will ship UPS free if order is over $100 and you will get it the next day.

Hahah, not unless HRO has them on sale too. HRO price is $548 (and free shipping.)

EDIT: Yes, they are having the sale too. HRO price is $449.

Yep thanks for the correction. No, HRO's price was $548 as of 2 weeks ago. This is a GRE sale - they must have lowered their base price.

Certainly not meaning to pick a fight... but I've been waffling over buying a 500 for months. I've checked HRO quite a few times and this price is pretty routine. During the last hamfest in Seaside it was $20 less but with rebanding coming I just couldn't pull the trigger...

The 500 will support rebanding. No word on whether or not it'll support the shuffled band plan.

One question for those of you with a 500 - one thing that drives my wife batty about my pro-164 is the fluttering and other obnoxious background noises that come as we drive around with the scanner. Is the 500 better at filtering that noise out?

I get some of it in high RF areas, but only while listening to the Puyallup TRS (?). Attenuator takes care of it for me, YMMV.
